The Tribal Council Meetings take place every Tuesday and Thursday of the week. The Council also has Quarterly Meetings every 3 months. There are 10 members of the Council who serve four-year terms. The Tribal Council Office handles all correspondence addressed to the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, Tribal Council Members, Financial Management, Tribal Services and Administrative Services. This office is also responsible for the scheduling of the weekly Tribal Council Meeting.

TRIBAL COURT SYSTEM

The Tribal Council, in its role as primary governing body of the Flathead Nation, is empowered under the Tribal Constitution to promulgate and enforce ordinances governing the conduct of Tribal members and providing for the maintenance of law and order and the administration of justice. Implementing that authority, the Tribal Council has vested the judicial power of the Tribes in the Tribal Court and the Tribal Court of Appeals.
The Courts was established in 1935. It exercises general civil jurisdiction consistent with federal law, criminal jurisdiction over Indians charged with offenses covered by CSKT laws. Appeals are heard by the CSKT Court of Appeals. Judges are appointed for terms of four years.
